New Poster Teases Upcoming Netflix Thriller The Devil All The Time
The Devil All the Time is an upcoming thriller based on the Donald Ray Pollock’s dubet novel of the same name, published in 2011. The synopsis reads:
‘Set in rural southern Ohio and West Virginia, The Devil All the Time follows a cast of compelling and bizarre characters from the end of World War II to the 1960s. There's Willard Russell, tormented veteran of the carnage in the South Pacific, who can't save his beautiful wife, Charlotte, from an agonizing death by cancer no matter how much sacrificial blood he pours on his "prayer log." There's Carl and Sandy Henderson, a husband-and-wife team of serial killers, who troll America's highways searching for suitable models to photograph and exterminate. There's the spider-handling preacher Roy and his crippled virtuoso-guitar-playing sidekick, Theodore, running from the law. And caught in the middle of all this is Arvin Eugene Russell, Willard and Charlotte's orphaned son, who grows up to be a good but also violent man in his own right.’

The Devil All the Time shows some great promise from the synopsis alone, with potential to get some darkly strong performances from the cast - some of which we’re probably not used to seeing. I think it goes without saying (although I will say it) that most people are looking to see what Tom Holland (In the Heart of the Sea - 2015, Spider-Man: Homecoming - 2017, Onward - 2020) pulls out of the bag in his role of Arvin Russell. We’re all used to seeing him - most recently - as the teenage, quipping Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the Marvel franchise series of films but it will be great to see him in a (potentially) much more serious role, as I’m sure he is more than capable of delivering.
That being said, this isn’t all about Tom Holland. The Devil All the Time boasts a truly impressive cast that includes Bill Skarsgård (It - 2017, Nine Days - 2020), Robert Pattinson (The Lighthouse - 2019, The Batman - 2021), Haley Bennett (The Hole - 2009, The Equalizer - 2014), Sebastian Stan (Black Swan - 2010, Logan Lucky - 2017) and Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland - 2010, Blackbird - 2019).
At this time we’re all still waiting for the trailer to drop but, right now, I’m pretty excited to see what this film brings. It has the makings of a solid film, and maybe a bit insane, too. Time will tell. The Devil All the Time is directed and co-written by by Antonio Campos and will be released on Netflix September 16, 2020.
